First Snow

Climatologists say this is the drought of the century.  I hope they are right.  This summer was the driest on record, with only 4 inches of rain.

We got our first moisture since April.  Four glorious inches of snow!

No rain for so long- my senses dull.  A few inches of snow and…  The smell of wet dirt hits your nose like a new perfume.  Puddles splash in the ditches under my wheels.  Snow melts from the rooftops and trickles musically down the spouts.  I drove by the yuccas this morning and sssshhhh!  The yuccas sleep under their crisp white blanket of snow.

I can’t wait for more!
