Bush Morning Glory- the Optimist of the Plant World

All this hot dry weather has me a little depressed.  It is easy to feel happy when the rain is coming down, nourishing the grass, feeding the cows, and post holes are a LOT easier to dig when the soil is moist.

Now the grass has shriveled to a crusty, yellow.  The pastures are getting short quick.  The sand is soft and deep.  sigh.

And then… look, there it is!  The Optimist of the Plant World!  The cheerful purple flowers are beautiful against the fragile green leaves.  Yes, it’s the “Bush Morning Glory”.  (Although it is a forb- bushes have bark.)

Ahh, it’s good to find the beauty in something as depressing as a drought.
