It is dry here. So ungodly dry and hot, you start to believe in the firy depths of hell. I hate to say the “D” word, but we can no longer deny it.
Drought. Since 2002, our area has been unwatered and hot. The last two years were a blessing of cool weather and abundant rains, but now the dry weather is back.
No rain + Hot weather = No grass. No grass = No food for the cows. So Newt has started weeding out the cull cows and lame horses to take to the sale barn. We don’t have hay meadows, so buying bales will be expensive.
We hope we will survive this round of drought. The alternative isn’t pretty- selling the cowherd down to bare bones. Buying expensive feed that will break the bank. Watching your pastures wither away.
The forecast is hot, with no chance of rain.
