I usually forget, but this year I am giving up something for Lent. As a diabetic, I feel I have given up sugar and several other fun, dangerous things. As a cheapskate, I have given up anything frivolous. As a diabetic cheapskate, I buy as little as possible to make up for the huge investment in diabetic prescriptions and pump supplies.
I’ve thought about giving up chocolate, or Diet Dr. Pepper, but they are all I have left. Plus Newt appreciates emotional eating more than crabbing. I tend to do one or the other.
Instead, I made the resolution to give up television during the week. I never had TV when I moved to Tiny Town, NE. I had a twin bed, two chairs, and a laptop. No television and I don’t remember missing it.
I want to spend more time with ReeRee, get my house cleaned, and maybe even make supper. Goodbye “American Pickers”, HGTV, and the Food Network. Hello playtime with ReeRee, suppers with Newt, and catching up on bookwork.
